Lipedema

Lipedema is a chronic and progressive condition characterized by the excessive accumulation of fat cells in the legs and arms, typically in a disproportionate manner relative to the rest of the body. It primarily affects women and is often misdiagnosed as obesity or lymphedema. Lipedema can cause pain, swelling, and tenderness in the affected areas, and can also lead to mobility issues and reduced quality of life. Conservative treatment in the form of compression therapy, nutritional advice and manual lymphatic drainage may help slow the progression of the disease. In cases of failed conservative treatment, functional liposuction of the affected areas can provide symptom reduction and improvement in mobility as well as quality of life.

Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is a type of surgical procedure that is performed to repair or rebuild a part of the body that has been damaged, lost, or deformed due to injury, illness, congenital abnormalities, or other medical conditions. The goal of reconstructive surgery is to restore the affected body part to as close to its normal form and function as possible, while also improving the patient’s quality of life.
